This is one of those parts where I would go for an unknown actor. I can’t see any of those actors playing The Godfather of Soul. He was too original and distinctive a personality for any established actor to play. Oh yeah, isn’t it Jeffrey, not Geoffrey Wright?

from your list…i could see MOS DEF as james brown…it would be great to see him channel the Godfather…MOS DEF is multi-talented and the right project could showcase his abilities…maybe that project is the JAMES BROWN story?
